This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
On a typical day, my students will run towards the classroom as I halt them at the door. "Slow down, take a breath, now come in quietly."
The school is a public middle school, working its way up in programs, school culture, and opportunities for students to learn.
Most of the school population are listed as English Language Learners who may receive free or reduced lunches. My students are in my special education class due to having special needs, ranging from those with specific learning disabilities to autism and emotional disturbance. The students are learning academics as well as how to work together as team members. These students are a fun group and every day is an adventure.
My Project
The students love to work together, share ideas, and present them. They are learning to take pride in their collaboration. These are skills that the classes have been working on, and the white boards are a great canvas to work out problems. They can visually see each other's contributions, then share them with the class.
These students are social people who are learning the benefits of collaboration and group work.
These white boards will provide the medium for them to do so. They will gain the opportunity to share ideas, problem solve, and present their work to the rest of the class with pride.
