Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our school is home to incredibly driven and inspirational students. In our class, they are grappling with rigorous mathematical concepts in Pre-Calculus and Calculus. With remote learning and social distancing, we've been unable to effectively collaborate around learning. Now that we have returned in person, students are eager to work together and I am eager to provide resources that allow this teamwork to flourish!
These whiteboards make it easy for students to share ideas, engage in productive struggle, and learn from and with each other.
A non-permanent method of sharing thinking is especially important in mathematics, where students often face the obstacle of math anxiety. Reframing our work as 'rough draft mathematics' eases this anxiety and is made possible when our written work be easily edited and displayed.
