The students that I work with, together with their families, have made a unique commitment toward broadening their cognitive, academic, social, economic, and cultural horizons by acquiring a second language through bilingual education. My students learn math and science as all students do, but they learn these two subject areas in French!
Students who achieve fluency or proficiency in a second language are better prepared for adulthood in a global community and marketplace, and they show greater cultural awareness and empathy toward others.
Often, these students also demonstrate more efficient reasoning skills, they have better problem-solving acumen, and they frequently have longer attention spans and better memories than their monolingual counterparts. My students are bright, creative, and passionate about learning! You can be a part of their learning and development by giving them access to the tools and experiences that will enrich their cognitive, academic, social, and personal growth.
Second grade students love to work collaboratively and use tactile learning strategies, and having large, round, and stable work tables will allow students to work in a collaborative environment without the stress of traditional desks coming apart and supplies falling in between the desks and onto the floor. The adjustable legs on these tables will allow me to vary the height of the tables dependent upon the students and the activities being executed, and the round shape lends itself beautifully to the execution of math centers, science experiments, and literacy groups! Students will benefit from learning in a way that allows for both independent and collaborative work, without having to worry about the actual surface that they are working on.
