Collaborative Learning Environment for Students

Help me give my students materials to help complete their computer work and a comfortable atmosphere to learn in.

My Project

In a recent survey, many of my students mentioned how much they loved doing more group work this year and the lively social atmosphere it brings to the classroom. They also enjoy a more dimly lit classroom to complete their work and always request to use the lamps instead of the bright overhead lights.

We are aiming to increase all students' sense of belonging to our class and school through more collaborative opportunities and giving students choice in how the classroom is set up.

The items requested will help foster that by setting an environment that is chosen by students and will help encourage communicating and collaboration between students

The chairs will give more fun and comfortable seating options for students to sit and work together. The night lights, neon signs, and floor lamp are for students so that we can avoid using the dreaded overhead light, but still be able to see and create a more relaxed atmosphere. The microwave is for students to heat up their snacks or lunches which has been a highly requested item for the class. Female students have also requested a microwave to heat up a heating pad for when they have menstrual cramps. The small tables are for students to rest their computer, food, or other items on while they are working away from their usual desk. The colored card stock is used to create bulletin board letters or other fun activities for students. The mouses are needed to replace a few of our broken ones in class. The hanging file folders are for me, the teacher, to organize important student documents and work instead of my current terrible organization of just lumping it all together.
