My Project
My second grade students are bright, curious, and full of energy. They come to school each day ready to learn, explore, and grow both academically and socially. As young learners, they thrive in spaces that are welcoming, engaging, and built to support collaboration and creativity. Our classroom is a place where we work hard and care for one another and I’m always looking for new ways to make it even more inviting and student-centered.
With your support, I’m hoping to transform a corner of our classroom into a Community Zone — a comfortable, flexible learning area where my students can read together, work in small groups, and participate in class discussions.
The Modern Edge Couch & Powered Table Community Zone from Lakeshore Learning includes modular seating and tables designed specifically for collaboration and comfort.
The entire set is easy to rearrange for different activities and is made of durable, easy-to-clean materials — perfect for busy second graders! This space will give students a sense of ownership in their learning environment and allow for flexible seating options during independent and group work.
Creating a learning space that supports collaboration and choice helps students develop independence, teamwork, and focus. Having a designated area for small-group instruction, peer collaboration, or a cozy reading nook gives students the flexibility they need to succeed in a 21st-century classroom.
