My Students

In science, I work hard to create a welcoming, fun, and safe environment. I enjoy giving my students options to get comfortable, have fun, and explore all areas of science. My students know that I want them to come and explore everything that interests them about science. I try not to put a cap on their exploration, and encourage stepping out of the box. I encourage hands-on exploration. I believe that the best way to learn about science, is to do science!

I want to give my students an amazing experience, and a classroom that flows with collaboration.

My Project

Flexible classrooms give students a choice in what kind of learning space works best for them and help them to work collaboratively, communicate, and engage in critical thinking. Currently, we have flexible seating. However, we are in need of sturdy flexible seating that can support constant middle school discovery. We are in need of tables that the students want to sit at, and that will help the classroom flow. My students need these tables because we are constantly getting in groups and this will save lots of time moving to and from our group setting. This will allow more time for student collaboration. This will help them to be better prepared for a world that depends highly on effective collaboration. When my students are engaged in labs or projects, they are working to solve problems, questions, and challenges. My role is not one of a traditional teacher, but one of a facilitator, or guide; it is not one of directing and managing every little step of student work. These tables will help shape my classroom into the student-centered room I dream for it to become.
