Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are amazing. They have IEPs and some challenges. But they show up everyday through the good and the bad. Our neighborhood is 97% Latino and most of our students have major financial needs. Most of my students have never really been to a museum or been exposed to things outside of Pomona.
Our special education program received a Golden Ribbon award for having an excellent and inventive program.
Our students work hard and never give up. I have had 100% graduation rates with students on my caseload for the three years I have been at our school. These kids strive everyday and unfortunately are not given much for it.
My Project
Gone are the days of combination chairs and tables, thankfully better late than never. Our old desks were broken and resulted in cuts and lots of tape to cover up the sharp edges. These last two desks will transform our room and we can hopefully say goodbye to the desks that are older than I am!!! That is pretty old!
We need two rectangular tables.
These desks allow for flexible seating and ease of collaboration. We have one table but need two more. The one we have is the coveted desk and we could benefit from two more when we do group work. Thank you for considering this project and I hope you can fund us.
