Math collaboration is critical to make math "sticky" for students. I am seeking a new small group table, as well as wall-mountable dry erase sheets, which will provide lots of locations for students to meet, discuss, solve, and share their thinking.
Students learn best when they process together.
Adding a small group table to my classroom will help me gather students for discussion and assessment. The dry-erase surface will allow students to show their work right on the table top, which is both fun and easier to see. The wall-mounted dry erase sheets will give us vertical surfaces for math work. I envision students in pairs or triads, reading a math problem, discussing how they would solve it, and trying strategies on the dry erase surface. Other students would be able to see the work, assess it for accuracy, and point out errors if needed. This is a powerful way to practice math, no matter the topic!
