This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students attend a Title I school in sunny Arizona. The majority of our students speak English as a second language, and 100% of our students qualify for free lunch. Many of them have experienced the difficulties and trauma that can come from living in poverty and struggle to focus on school as a result. That said, our students are some of the brightest, most creative kids you can imagine.

Technology is making such a huge difference with our children during these trying times.

A ratio of 1:1 devices to students has allowed teachers to maintain crucial connections and better differentiate instruction to meet students where they are. Yet this pandemic has also highlighted additional needs and opportunities for growth.

My Project

Thanks to Verizon and donors like you, we have been able to provide our students with some incredible technology tools to support their learning. So far these tools have allowed teachers to teach and students to learn more efficiently. Now we need your help in moving to the next level: using our technology to truly redefine how we are teaching and learning in a meaningful way!

Our focus this year is on Project Based Learning, specifically on how we can utilize these technology tools to increase student inquiry, voice and choice, and collaboration.

Now that we are back to in-person learning (!!!) we want to create a space for students to collaborate using this remarkable technology as we learn and grow with these tools. With your help we hope to purchase TVs and Apple TVs so students can work in small groups by mirroring their iPad screens to 5 TVs set up around our Collaboration space.
