This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is located in a farming based border town in Southern Arizona. We are also home to a military base. Many of our students come from migrant families with a low socioeconomic status, but that doesn't make them any less eager to learn!
My Project
Our classroom is currently filled with bulky, old desks that are multiple heights which makes them difficult to group together. They take up a lot of extra space making if hard to move around the room or utilize our classroom space to its full potential.
Meaningful collaboration helps to create positive peer relationships.
One of the best ways to do this is by creating a collaborative environment in which students can discuss and share their ideas on a regular basis and foster their creativity together.
Collaborative tables would provide the necessary classroom seating to help promote this. These group tabes would also give my students more freedom to move around the room for centers and flexible seating learning time.
