Help me give my students technology at their fingertips. Having 10 Chromebooks in my classroom allows students to research and view real world examples in real time, experience real science through manipulative simulation, and collaboration.

My Students
"Thank you for not giving up on me even though I still have all F's in my other classes." The student that wrote this went on to score proficient on his TCAP, which he has never done before. My classroom is full of knowledge and encouragement, and I hope you can help me continue to see these results!
They are all curious, fun-loving, hilarious kids.
I teach in a large suburban middle school in TN. My students have a bright future ahead of them. I hope to open their eyes to the wonder of science, and these students are excited and motivated to learn, especially about the world around them. Their interests in Science are sparked when they can research and explore the "real world." Bringing technology and science to their fingertips through the Kindles to help expand their experiences and sets the stage to learn more. I hope to continue to inspire their thirst for knowledge through the Kindles. This project will also allow them to help others learn through student created activities and projects.
My Project
A 7th grade science classroom is a classroom full of questions! Back in the "old days" we used to sit and listen to a teacher lecture and give notes, while we silently wrote down what was on the board. That is not what learning looks like in my room! I have a collaboration classroom where students must obtain, evaluate, and communicate information on their own and share with others in order to learn the science standards.
In order to provide real world examples of science, I would like to give students the opportunity to research outside of the textbook.
To do this, having technology at their fingertips is essential. In my school, we have 300 Chromebooks available to serve over 1000 students. Having 10 Chromebooks in my classroom allows students to research and view real world examples in real time, experience real science through manipulative simulations, and interact with each other through programs that allow for collaboration, without having to "get in line" for the technology in advance.
