My students are an energetic group of fantastic fifth graders, who come into my classroom ready to work hard and learn everyday. They are dreamers, thinkers, talkers, and questioners. They are always working hard to grow as readers and writers. The energy that comes from them as they discuss their books within their book clubs can be felt by all whom enter the classroom. They love to read and write in every nook and cranny of the classroom. The one space that is utilized by every student multiple times throughout the day is the front of the room, where we all gather for mini lessons and to share our thoughts and feelings during morning meeting. The one problem with this space is the carpet, it is too small to hold all 21 students comfortably and unfortunately, some have to sit on the hard floor.
My Project
A classroom should feel like home, a place where kids are excited to be and feel welcome. A comfortable place to sit is a must! The one space that is utilized by every student multiple times throughout the day it the front of the room, where we all gather for mini lessons, share our thoughts and feelings during morning meeting, and to read and write. The one problem with the space is the carpet, it is too small to hold all 22 students comfortably. A carpet will create a warm and inviting space where students can gather together as one group, small groups, partners, or on their own.
