“A man who carries a cat by the tail learns something he can learn in no other way." This quote comes from Mark Twain. The same holds true for my students. They all learn in different ways, that is the way a teacher should be teaching. We laugh, explore our community, solve math problems, and come together to build each other up. During our year together, we become family.
My students come from many backgrounds, which makes each and every one of them special.
As a teacher, I feel we should be tuning into our students' needs and what makes them, them.
In an ever-changing world, our students need to know what is going on in the world around them. With Scholastic News, we will get age-appropriate current events weekly in our classroom. This will help my students grow and learn about the world around them.
Scholastic News is the perfect addition to our Social Studies curriculum because we are learning about our community and the world we live in.
Living in a small community, my students are not always current on what is happening around the world. Bringing Scholastic News to my classroom will help students answer questions they may have and question the world around them.
The Modern Plus Grass Green Rug will be a great addition to my classroom reading area. The rug will allow students to be in area that is comfortable and they can comfortably read, have class discussions, and work with our 6th grade buddies in a comfortable area besides “just their own desks”. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating. They almost always make good choices about where they sit, and are more engaged.
