My Students
My students are AMAZING!!! I teach 3rd and 4th grade math and science in Chicago, and my students are some of the most energetic and enthusiastic learners there are! We are really hard workers and dedicated to our learning. My students are from a neighborhood in Chicago where most are living in economically challenging situations, yet they strive to overcome these challenges by maintaining positive attitudes and seeking out opportunities for growth and self-improvement. We are a "Leader in Me" school, so all of my students understand that they have to give their very best every day and are leaders in their daily lives. Many of my students are also English language learners which can be a challenge, but they do not let this stop them from learning. Our school community and neighborhood are very supportive and nurturing and each member contributes to our learning in some way.
My Project
My students received a dry erase kidney table last school year though the donations from Ripple. We were so thankful for it as it helped in our classroom so much. The table was so instrumental in helping my students express their thinking and learn from each other that we would like to transform our classroom to include more of these tables to be able to work more cohesively and move from being students to teachers. My students do a lot of peer work and collaborate daily so these tables make it fun and easy for them to share ideas and demonstrate their thinking. We would love to be able to have a class full of them so that we can work together. Also we would be able to add to our classroom math library that we are building. We have a very small handful of books on concepts and skills being learned in our math room and it would be nice to have more to share in partner work and during lessons.
