Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are a very diverse group. They come from different backgrounds and beliefs. Some kids have access to technology and some don't have it at home. With the rise in technology knowledge for current jobs, all students need to know how to be tech-savvy. Our school has a diverse population, with ninety-five percent of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch. Many face challenges in and out of school and in their homes. A school is a place of refuge for some, and I want to provide ample opportunities to shine where they are in their development. As their teacher, I see a group of wonderful children full of energy and a willingness to jump in and try new things.
With Arizona being forty-ninth in state funding, it isn't easy to give all students what they need.
For our students to compete in the job market, they must be exposed to and solve problems.
My Project
My students need furniture to be able to collaborate and work together with classmates. We need to have flexible seating arrangements for the students. My students work on projects, make games, and work together throughout the day. Having this trapezoid table allows the students space and maneuverability that would allow for easy collaboration.
At our school, we use Kagan strategies to meet the diverse needs of our students socially and academically.
We would put the furniture to great use daily as we need the space to spread out and move around.
