My Project

In this project, I am requesting licenses for the music production software 'Soundtrap' for our 7th and 8th graders.

Our students idolize hip hop and rap artists.

This software and project will give my students the collaborative learning experiences needed to create the music they love. 'Soundtrap' will have our middle schoolers working together in teams to create original music using a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation).

Our students have all heard the term 'Music Producer' before, but most have no idea of what music production actually entails. 'Soundtrap' has many features which will allow the students to collaborate on each others' tracks. We have many talented rappers and singers, and other students who will most definitely love creating beats with this powerful software, which includes thousands of samples. This group project will give Gillespie's middle schoolers a hands-on, real-world experience creating modern music, where each student will play a different and equally valuable role on the team.

With 'Soundtrap,' our students will collaborate and see a musical future for themselves. Middle school is all about choices. 'Soundtrap' will inspire my students to pursue a musical lifestyle and means of expression during their most vulnerable middle school years. Thank you for your help.
