My Students

Teaching in Kona, Hawai'i can have many challenges. Some of these challenges are created by a lack of funding from the state, some are presented by the many different cultures that make our community, and some come from the climate in our state.

My school educates many students from low socioeconomic households from many different culture backgrounds.

These students are hardworking and love learning. The students at this school want to grow up and become productive members of our global society.

My Project

Living in a tropical climate, we always have warm weather all year. This means that all year students are able to be outside playing and learning. This also means that all year students and teachers must be concerned with hydration.

These water fountains/bottle filling stations would allow students to get much needed water in their systems.

Having access to water and the ability to bring water back to class will increase student focus and well as reduce the amount of time children are out of class getting drinks. When students have their basic needs meet they are more able to focus on their academics.
