This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our coffee cart program is an excellent way to give our students practical, real-world job skills! It's a great way to teach things like customer service, basic math (for handling money and making change), food safety, teamwork, and time management—all skills that can transfer directly to many different types of jobs.

Job Rotation: Students could rotate through different roles, such as barista, cashier, inventory manager, and customer service.

This gives them a broader understanding of how the entire operation works and helps them develop multiple skills.

Customer Interaction: Focus on communication skills by encouraging students to practice greetings, taking orders, and handling complaints. Role-playing can help them build confidence in interacting with customers.

Job Readiness Lessons: In addition to the hands-on experience, consider incorporating lessons on resume-building, interview skills, and workplace etiquette. These lessons could be tied into their experiences with the coffee cart program.

Business Skills: Introduce concepts like budgeting, tracking sales, and managing supplies to give students a sense of the behind-the-scenes business aspects. They can learn how to calculate profit margins, create supply lists, and even track inventory.

Vocational Pathways: Explore different careers related to the hospitality industry, like management, marketing, and supply chain management. This could help students see the long-term possibilities within the field.

Entrepreneurship: Give students an opportunity to come up with new product ideas or ways to market the coffee cart. They could develop a plan to advertise and potentially expand the service.

Soft Skills Development: Encourage teamwork, time management, and problem-solving as students work together to run the cart efficiently.

Our goal is to equip students with valuable, practical skills that will serve them well after graduation. This hands-on approach is an amazing way to make those skills feel more tangible and relevant.
