My Students

I teach Life Skills, which serves students with special needs, grades K-6, in a self-contained classroom. Each one of my students has different and unique needs, but all of my students want to be an integral part of their school community. We work on academic, functional and social skills in the classroom and around the campus with their school aged peers.

I feel privileged to work with these students; every day, I get the opportunity to see the world through their eyes.

I want my students, above all else, to know they are genuinely loved and valued and appreciated for the positive contributions they make to every life they touch.

My Project

We are doing a student-run traveling coffee cart on Fridays for staff in the building and are in need of two Keurigs to brew the coffee. We chose Keurigs over traditional coffee brewers for ease of use and safety for our elementary-aged students.

Some of the life skills we practice each coffee cart Friday are following a recipe, sequencing steps in an activity, fulfilling an order, appropriate social skills, sharing, working with peers, basic number recognition, reading and comprehension, health and hygiene.

These life skills are so important for our students! Thank you for your consideration and support!
