My Project
I run a transitions program for students 18-21 who are accessing different job shadowing opportunities where they practice social skills, community living skills, financial skills, and independent living. Having a coffee cart business experience will help students engage with the general public and provide them with social opportunities they may not be able to access by themselves.
The specific items we are requesting, such as a coffee cart setup, will make a significant difference in our students' learning by providing them with a hands-on opportunity to develop essential life skills.
Through operating a coffee cart, they will gain practical experience in customer service, money handling, time management, and teamwork, which are crucial for their future independence.
Our primary goal for this project is to empower our students with the skills and experiences they need to transition successfully into adulthood. By engaging in the coffee cart business, they will not only acquire practical skills but also have the chance to interact with the general public, enhancing their social and communication abilities. This will better prepare them for independent living and increased community involvement.
What makes our students special is their determination and the unique challenges they face in their transition to adulthood. Our program is designed to cater to individuals aged 18-21 who may have difficulties accessing typical social and vocational opportunities. By providing them with innovative experiences like the coffee cart business, we aim to unlock their potential and help them thrive despite the obstacles they may encounter.
