I teach in a lower income, public High School (Marysville Pilchuck High) in Marysville WA. My classes, are for Special Education students for Math and Personal Finance in grades 9-11.\r\n\r\nYour contribution helped provide the students with necessary materials to get their work done. The pencils, help daily so that they can do their classwork. The colored pencils help when they have to do graphing and other activities where color is helpful. Sometimes, students will use these to underline directions in an assignment. \r\n\r\nThe copy paper is always appreciated, as with school budgets being cut, the school could not provide paper to the teachers. Last year, we started school, without any paper in the entire school. I vowed then.\\, that I would never allow this to impact my students again.\r\n\r\nLastly, the snacks, Cheez-it crackers help students that sometimes come to school without eating. I always have snacks in my room, and these were a welcome addition. Since we all know that a hungry child cannot learn effectively.\r\n\r\nThanks again for the generous contribution. It will be put to good use.","fullyFundedDate":1756778013194,"projectUrl":"project/help-math-make-sense/9447981/","projectTitle":"Help Math Make Sense","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Erickson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10034409"},{"teacherId":9791734,"projectId":8856482,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our project to repair the three-wheel bikes for our program. When we started this project, the bikes were in worse shape than we had hoped. Out of the five bikes, only one was still rideable, while the others had been ridden on flat tires, left with loose parts, and generally pushed to their limits without proper maintenance. What was supposed to be a fun, social activity had turned into a slow, frustrating process where only one student could ride at a time.\r\n\r\nWhen we got to work on the repairs, it quickly became clear why the bikes had been sidelined. The inner tubes were beyond saving—years of being ridden while underinflated had caused pinch damage, creating small tears along the creases where the tube folds. Some tubes had stretched and thinned so badly that they couldn't hold air even with patches. Others were stuck to the inside of the tire from dirt, grit, and moisture, making them difficult to remove without tearing. Replacing them was the only realistic solution, and it was a great opportunity for students to assist with tasks like cleaning out the rims and carefully placing the new tubes.\r\n\r\nInflating the tires became a rewarding step for the students. With supervision, they used the pump to fill the new tubes and learned to check the pressure as the tires firmed up. For some, just holding the pump steady while someone else worked the handle was a big accomplishment, and it was great to see their focus and pride in contributing to the process.\r\n\r\nOther repairs included reattaching baskets and seats that had become loose over time. One of the baskets had been knocked completely out of alignment, and getting it to fit back properly was a bit of a puzzle. Students helped by holding tools or steadying the bike while the adjustments were made. We also tightened up chains and checked for small mechanical issues that could have caused trouble later on.\r\n\r\nNow, with all five bikes fully repaired, our students can finally enjoy the activity the way it was meant to be. For the first time in a long while, they can ride together as a group. Whether they're navigating campus carefully on rainy days or riding the track on clear ones, the joy and pride on their faces is undeniable. Even better, the activity has drawn attention from others on campus, helping to highlight the value of our program and the abilities of our students.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has made this transformation possible. These bikes are more than just transportation—they're an opportunity for our students to engage socially, develop skills, and experience the simple joy of riding. Thank you for helping us make this a reality.","fullyFundedDate":1728754822193,"projectUrl":"project/we-can-bike-too/8856482/","projectTitle":"We Can Bike Too!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Hunziker","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9791734_orig.png?crop=591,591,x0,y356&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1727989811992","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mr-hunziker"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_101548","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1165,"numTeachers":56,"percentFrplEligible":77,"percentAsian":5,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":39,"percentIndigenous":5,"percentLatinx":33,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"20.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":88.9,"schoolId":101548,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Marysville Pilchuck High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Marysville Pilchuck High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/washington/marysville-school-district-25/marysville-pilchuck-high-school/101548"}
