My Project

Dear Community Member/Supporter,

I'm reaching out to share our coffee cart, which is aimed at empowering our students with disabilities at our school to learn independent living skills and get work experience.

I am seeking support to strengthen our coffee cart on campus, which is a hands-on platform for them to learn independent living skills. Through this project, students will gain practical experience in hospitality, customer service, and inventory management, fostering their confidence and autonomy. Oftentimes, my students have never had an experience working, and are scared to obtain jobs. This project helps work seem less scary.

The items listed will allow my students to have the tools they need to make coffee drinks for staff members on campus as part of a coffee cart. The Keurig allows students with physical limits to participate as it is more accessible than a coffee pot, which is too heavy for some. The ice machine allows us to make iced drinks, which is necessary in sunny San Diego. The handheld frother allows us to mix drinks. The griddle allows us to practice cooking and make hot food items. The gloves, hairnets, napkins, paper plates, and cups allow us to practice safe and sanitary food handling.

Your generous donation will directly contribute to purchasing equipment and materials essential for the coffee cart project's success. Your involvement will make a tangible difference in the lives of our Title I students, enabling them to transition into adulthood with the skills and confidence needed to thrive.
