My students are amazing children coming from rural and suburban Idaho. Imagine a school of some very active children, as well as some very lethargic ones. In both cases, students have trouble staying focused on their activities. These students are bright and eager to please but often miss out on instruction due to lack of focus. This causes a need to reteach and reteach.
My goal is to give these students the tools they need to increase their involvement in lessons.
I have seen classroom tools that work to help keep students focused and I'm hoping for a few for my students. These tools will allow for movement, creativity, and kinesthetic experiences. Thank-you.
My Project
My students will use these items to explore curriculum and concepts throughout the school year, both in-class and as they participate in after-school clubs and events. They will use the Wobble Chairs as equipment that helps to focus their minds and bodies on the tasks at hand. These chairs will be used in centers and individually to give students who are kinesthetic learners the opportunity to process information as they work. The Writing Process Student Folders will be used to help students learn and use the writing process as they work through their projects and activities. Students will use the Reusable Write and Wipe Pockets to practice concepts. These pockets will help us cut down on classroom copies and will help me teach students about the importance of reusable and renewable resources. These resources will be used daily in our classroom as students grow and learn.
We are most excited about the STEM materials.
The books on coding, Computer Coding with Scratch, Coding in Scratch, Raspberry Pi Projects, Scratch Coding Cards, Coding with Scratch Jr., and I am a Scratch Coder, will help my students learn and develop their coding skills throughout the year. These books are set up to help learners at all levels and will be wonderful additions to help students learn 21st Century skills. The Botley Coding Robot classroom set and Botley Coding Robot activity set will be used to help students code offline. These robots will walk students through the basics of coding in a fun and engaging manner!
