My Students

My students walk into the Fabrication Lab ready and excited to learn. In my classroom, learning is fun and there is no fear of failing. Students are continually engaged during different tasks and challenges that they are asked to meet. They collaborate with their peers while using auditory, kinesthetic, and visual skills to enhance the learning process. In an economically challenged community, this lab is a place for students to come and explore new interests and create opportunities for themselves.

The excitement is contagious as you walk around the lab, students have fun researching, creating, and implementing a wide variety of technologies to solve engaging real-world problems.

My students are put into groups with different grade levels, interests, and abilities and they turn into leaders, researchers, collaborators, inventors, and problem-solvers. This lab is teaching them more than just how to build and create but it is teaching them patience and kindness along with communication skills. The skills that students learn in this lab, they will use in high school, the trades, two years, four years, and tech schools, and when in the job force.

My Project

Building STEAM education through the use of innovative LEGO Mindstorms EV3 robots and First Lego League challenges will engage the students who are always pushing themselves and exploring new challenges in the Fabrication Lab. Students will utilize their creativity and 21st century thinking skills to work collaboratively to build, program, and command their robots to maneuver on this year's new challenge board.

The EV3 Space Challenge Set is this year's First Lego League challenge board will provide hands-on, interactive, and inquiry based learning opportunities for my students in Fabrication Lab.

This challenge set will allow my students to use their creativity and the engineering design process to code and tackle the new challenges the board provides.
