This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students in my room are very diligent students who are constantly striving to do their very best and to accomplish their goals. Many of them are second language learners and appreciate the benefits of attending a school where academics are of the highest priority. They are always seeking to gain new information and to learn new things. With responsibilities at home that limit their time to explore subjects and to master skills, they appreciate a classroom where they are given liberty to improve in all subject areas. The more materials in the classroom, which help in this area, the more they will learn and improve in all areas. Our school loves to facilitate learning. As their teacher, I want them to love to learn and have the confidence and self-motivation to strive for their best.

My Project

My students are bound and determined to get to college and I am going to give them all the necessary tools I possibly can. I am requesting 6 Ozobot Bit coding robots for my students to learn more about coding through kinesthetic learning. Most coding programs are done online and therefor show no real world example. Most robotic programs are reliant on controls to move the bot. Ozobots allow my students to mix coding programing with real time processing and application. The Ozobots need to be learned about and then experienced. The materials will allow the Ozobots to be used independently or programed on a device.

With most of my students being socio-economically disadvantaged, this gives them experiences that expose them to careers in technology and science fields.

With these experiences, they will be better prepared to enter the next grade level, college, and their future careers. It is important to me to give them as many opportunities to advance while in my classroom. Most of my students will not get the chance to work with and code a robot in any other way than in my classroom. This will allow them to have that hands-on experience. The earphones will be used to allow them to go at their own pace watching the tutorial and instructional videos on coding. Students will prepare to use the technology before having access to the bots. Once they have completed the training, they may experience the bots and learn about coding in a whole new way!
