Coding Our Future

My students need a Bee-bot, Code & Go Robot, and Coding Caterpillar.

My Students

My first graders attend a large Title I school with roughly 700 Kindergarten through 5th grade students. Our classroom is made up of 22 diverse students. Approximately 70% of our students are living in poverty and there are 18 different languages spoken at home. We take great pride in the cultural diversity we represent and are consistently inspired by the resiliency of our students. While many of our students do not have the advantages of having attended preschool, they enter the doors every morning eager for new discoveries and new challenges. I want to continue to encourage these learners every step of the way with as many experiences and opportunities as possible. Despite the challenges this may cause, my students are hardworking and determined learners.

My Project

I am asking for a Bee-Bot coding system, Code and Go Robot Mouse, and Coding Caterpillar to begin teaching my students about computer coding.

Mae Jemison once said, "We have the opportunity to create the future and decide what that's like." With more than 80% of jobs in the next decade requiring technology skills, our future is dependent on STEAM learning, and coding is at the heart of that.

The technology tools that I am requesting will allow my students to experience and practice coding at the primary level, with the hope for developing a love of future technology and computer coding.
