As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school, my students are faced with challenges each and every day. Despite the rural setting, I am looking to make my science curriculum innovative and exciting to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences in my classroom.
Each day, my students buy into the motto that a great attitude will become a great day.
My students are curious about technology; hands-on, innovative learning experiences will last a lifetime in the eyes of my students. Essentially though, my students are just plain curious. Each day, my students arrive looking for something different, something new, and something to lift their hopes. I want my classroom to be the place that is and does just that.
My Project
Coding on the Go is all about getting my students up and moving during STEM class. As of right now, students are tied to their laptops to code our Lego EV3, Dash and Dot, and Sphero robots. As you can image, hauling a bulky laptop around while trying to maneuver robots is not ideal. This is where my Coding on the Go project will help.
I'm asking for a convertible Chromebook tablet that will be much handier while trying to code and maneuver our robots through obstacle courses and various STEM challenges.
An 11-inch tablet will allow my students free range with no wires and cords attached. Coding will become much easier for the students; every little bit helps when I am introducing these new innovative experiences in class.
