Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Singing, playing instruments, moving, and analyzing music is just the beginning of every elementary student's journey into learning and experiencing music. By sixth grade, my students are able to do all of the above and more! However, now it is time to take our music experiences further, by exploring how technology plays a role in the music room.

These Makey Makey Kits will allow my students to use coding to turn objects into their own musical instruments.

Students will be able to practice their 21st-Century technology skills in the music room. This project will have students working together to create their own unique musical instrument through a coding program and Makey Makey will bring that code alive when the kits are assembled to everyday objects. At the end of the project, students will have a coding experience that will allow them to continue exploring the possibilities that coding will give them access to in the music world.
