This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students love learning and digital literacy. They are mostly 8th graders with a few 7th mixed in. They are a group of learners that would make you appreciate where the minds of our future are headed. These kids innovate me to push our learning to new levels! They constantly debate about which video game console is the best, to whom, and why! To them, cool is being a nerd. Their appetite for all things digital stems from their uprising using technology. However, we are a title I school and many student have free or reduced lunch. These are students who need digital opportunities and experiences in school to bridge their later success out of school in life. These digital natives see technological toys as tools for learning, and have already made gains in their learning with our limited equipment since last year.

My Project

My students have been working on their coding skills in media literacy, but they would like to get some hands-on experience. My students have been using free programs to practice code, but they are looking to explore new places where they can practice coding. Getting a Sphero Bolt will give my students programming experience with code-driven activities.

Students will use the new technology to practice a wide-variety coding approaches. Students will create their own projects with the Sphero Bolt, and they will present their work to the class.
