My school has approximately 775 students who come from diverse backgrounds. Even though we have predominantly middle class families, they still are all unique and have different needs. In my classroom, I have 37 computers. The students learn with a flipped classroom model in my Business and Computer Sciences classes and enjoy having access to technology in our classroom.
The students become most engaged when working in a comfortable setting and allowed to experience and design flexible seating of their own desire.
A student's comfort in any classroom has a direct correlation to their learning. I believe that providing my students with a more comfortable environment while computer programming will help them accept the content more. When students are comfortable and have the items needed to create a great educational and collaborative learning space, wonderful things can happen. Students will be more motivated and interested in taking a chance when problem solving and innovating. When students are given the the opportunity to work in a comfortable classroom in a space that allows them to focus best, amazing learning and immense motivation occurs!
I want to give my students the opportunity to be as creative as possible in an engaging and comfortable classroom environment.
In getting my students ready for the real world, I want to give them the chance and freedom to choose the most inviting environment. As adults, we make so many decisions that impact our ability to do our jobs successfully and I think students deserve this same chance to be creative while in the safety of the classroom atmosphere and setting.
