Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach third grade in an inner city community. All of my students are English Language learners and qualify for free school lunch. They have many difficult challenges in and out of school setting. Our school is located in a low socioeconomic community, resources are scarce and my students do not always have the supplies they need to succeed. My students' families are very hard working but often have difficulties making ends meet, many of them work multiple jobs and do not always have the time or resources to volunteer at school .
My Project
My students need to learn how to code. Coding and other computer based careers are taking off. Coding teaches students many important skills, focus, paying attention to detail and patience. Without your support, we would be unable to get these materials for our classroom.
My classroom needs a variety of Sphero robots including: Sphero SPRK, R2D2, BB8, and BB9E in order to get my students excited about coding.
Having these robots would teach my students many coding concepts and enable them to experience coding hands on. We are also asking for a variety of cases to securely store our robots when we are not using them. With your generous support, we will be able to provide my students with the ability to learn and code.
