My Students
My 4th grade students come from very diverse backgrounds. Most of them are low-income and many are at-risk. Over 80% of the school qualifies for free breakfast and lunch. About one-fourth of my class also gets sent home with a bag of food on the weekends.
My students are very compassionate, creative, and active individuals.
They have a huge passion for helping others. They enjoy group activities and anything that gets them moving around the room. I want to provide them with meaningful, engaging, student-driven learning opportunities.
My Project
In 4th grade we are lucky to be able to study computer coding as part of our science curriculum. Our world is changing and moving toward a more technologically advanced generation and coding is a very important skill to have.
These computer kits will allow my students to dive deeper into the world of coding.
We will use the Microduino Itty Bitty City kit to become engineers. The coding kit will enhance our understanding of computer programming by allowing for hands-on experiments.
It is so important to introduce children to materials that allow them to use their critical thinking skills while working together with others.
