Coding for Art Class: Part 2

Help me give my students hole punches to create their own custom LED signs, as well as tabletop easels to display the finished artwork on.

My Project

This project is a small continuation of a funded project a few months ago. We received LED lights and materials to make and code custom signs in class, but we are in need of a way to punch perfect circular holes of various sizes through paper without the use of a cutting machine. This second part to the project will use additional gift cards received to fund the materials.

Through this project, students will create custom LED signs that come to life through coding and technology!

Students will use Adobe Illustrator to design, combined with cutting-edge tools such as LED lights and microprocessors to build signs that explore the dynamic interplay between artistic expression and computer programming. This project will enable them to craft visually captivating displays that evolve and change, adding a new dimension to their artistic work.

These students have already demonstrated their exceptional dedication and passion for the arts. They have reached their third year in the Media Arts program, a testament to their talent and commitment. Now, we have the incredible opportunity to challenge them further and nurture their potential through a project that forces them to think beyond the digital world. This fusion of art and technology will not only expand their skill set but also inspire them to see the world through a new lens—one where they can manipulate light and code to produce breathtaking visual experiences.
