My Project

Having access to iPads in the 4th and 5th grade classrooms will greatly improve learning opportunities for students. It enables struggling readers the chance to read the same books that other students are reading which creates a more inclusive and equitable environment. This same benefit covers a range of subjects because of the reading crossover. We have the opportunity to be more equitable and to help keep the classroom moving for everyone. These devices also support our goal of teaching students to code from an early age. We feel it is critical to help them become fluent in all forms of technology as they move into a world that will be completely intertwined with electronics. Our approach of Place Based Education means that we spend a great deal of time doing fieldwork and these mobile devices would also be perfect to support that work away from school. These additions to our classroom would add value across the board and would specifically help those students with the need for special accommodations.
