Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher from a middle-class, urban school district in Northeastern PA., 75% of our students come from disadvantaged or single parent families. Many students lack real-world experiences that many professionals take for granted. All students in my district receive free breakfast and lunch.
Most of my students have had little to no STEM experience.
Allowing students to be more creative and use their imagination will help to jumpstart their interest in many science fields. We can’t wait. Let’s get started!
My Project
We are planning to use these Ozobots and Spheros to help with our cardboard arcade games that my students will be making this spring. These robots will help their games come alive and not only increase their love of stem and coding but allow them to be even more creative.
Spheros can be used in a golf game or pinball.
Ozobots can be used in a race type game. There are endless ideas that my students are coming up with, but they need these resources to make those ideas become reality. With your donation that can happen! Help us get these robots into our classroom!
Until then, we will use the Ozobot and Sphero to practice coding. The spheres will be used in a center where the students will make mazes and then code the sphero to go through the maze. The Ozobot also will be used in a center to code with. These robots will help my students get an idea of some things they can do in the computer science field.
