My students love to learn! Most of our learning happens with hands-on materials. And recently, I learned about the importance of learning coding skills, even in the younger grades. It encourages problem-solving and persistence as students encounter obstacles in their work. These skills will help them develop in all areas of academics
While I want my students to learn coding skills, I do not want them on screens all day.
I also do not have student tablets or computers. However, with these materials, my students will be able to learn coding skills without having any added screen time.
There is a LEGO train for the students to code. I cannot begin to tell you how much they love LEGOs! They will be able to designate the route of the train based on the pieces they pick. There is also a robot that they will be able to direct by coding the instructions on small cubes. These materials will give my students opportunities to practice basic coding skills and concepts independently during our center time.
