Coding at Carnegie

My students need these drones, particularly the Sphero and Parrot droids to complete a coding project that we are working on at our school to build community and teach students collaboration and life skills.

My Students

My students have so much energy and a true passion for learning and one another. Despite their personality differences, they come together as a group to support one another. This supportive community provides all students with a comfortable place to learn.

We will be working every day to create an empathetic classroom that reflects the world that we want to build.

These students are inquisitive and excel when they are presented with challenges. They demand so much from themselves and one another.

My Project

The ability to code and program will prepare students to enter high school and a workforce that requires technology skills. This experience will empower students to take on new challenges throughout their lives because success breeds confidence.

As students collaborate to code, they will develop skills that they can apply in the workforce but will also learn how to work as a team to achieve a larger goal.

Coding will provide students with a new way to learn and build something from the ground up. I hope that this experience will be a new, engaging educational experience for all students.

The Sphero, Sphero 2.0, Parrot Airborne, Parrot Jumping Sumo, and Parrot Rolling Spider drones will allow my students to become inquisitive IB learners as they collaborate to code these devices and learn how to navigate them around the classroom and school. By having these drones in my classroom, students will be able to take agency over their learning and discover new talents related to technology.
