Coding and Robotics in the Classroom

My Students

My middle school math and science classroom is a place of challenge and discovery. Students will spend this year learning the foundations of math and science and skills they will need as they move forward. Their futures will include a world of technology for which they will need to be ready. My students live in a suburban neighborhood with a diverse population.

My students are excited t explore the world of coding and robotics.

They take pride in their efforts and are willing to challenge their minds for the sake of learning.

My Project

My classroom environment fosters collaboration and creativity. Students work together to solve problems that they identify and they enjoy finding challenges to broaden their experiences. I have been teaching robotics to my middle school students for several years now. I would like to enhance my program by teaching the students how to program using a Raspberry Pi. Students will use this type of computer students will be able to code the robots to move around. My favorite day of the year is when the students get to turn the robots on and watch them do their intro dance. The students' eyes light up and they squeal with delight. The Linkbot run by the Raspberry Pi is a excellent way to support a variety of interests and to build basic technology skills. Future careers begin here.
