My students need and would love Arduino UNO programming/electrical/engineering kits to allow them to practice writing functional code and learn electrical basics.
My students are eager to learn programming languages. I would like to be able to offer them opportunities to learn to code and create at the same time. Some of my students know a little programming but desire hands-on labs in order to see their code come to life and make something happen.
My students are a unique bunch, they represent several different school districts, and they give up three of their regular school credit hours in order to take the class.
Our school is a career center for high school students that is designed to give every student a skill. Getting technology into the hands of students, more specifically an Arduino, will add fuel to the students' desire of wanting to learn how to program.
My Project
My students will use the Arduinos on a weekly, if not daily basis. Students will learn how to program, problem solve, work in a team, and come away with a basic understanding of electrical circuits and components. The materials we are asking for will allow students to feed their creative appetite. With an Arduino, a student follows a multi-step process in order to create; a student must write the code correctly, then set up the "build" by using correct ports, transistors, timers, and breadboard fundamentals.
Students will be engaged in learning and challenging themselves.
Students will learn the fundamentals of the programming languages C and C++. Students' lives will be impacted for the better because they will have developed a deeper understanding of how programming works and the limitless possibilities of technology.
