Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a brand new school in a low socioeconomic community. The students in many cases have parents that are working to just make ends meet. That means it is here with us that they get all the help they need.
My students are in first grade and love to learn but to meet their needs, we need to teach in new and fun ways.
We need to include hands-on activities to ensure that the can get a true understanding in what we are teaching.
My Project
The wonder workshop packs will help provide an afterschool program for the students in my school. The goal of the afterschool program is to give students an opportunity to learn more about computer programing and coding while problem solving and collaborating with students in every grade level.
The after school program will include all students in the school from all grade levels.
It will not matter if they are girls or boys or first or fifth grade because all the students will be able to participate. The only requirement that students will need to fulfill will be a parent permission slip to stay and agreement to pick them up at the end of the hour after school.
Students will be encouraged to continue to do well in their classes, but not required to have a certain grade in order to participate. With your help I will be able to start the students on their way in computer science.
