My Project

Our school robotics teams have done wonders with the materials available to us. Our school-based team does not have a dedicated, flexible budget that allows us to purchase the materials we want to compete (yet), so our students have had to design solutions to competition criteria with the resources we have on-hand.

Our students have impressed coaches and judges alike with their creativity in designing our robots and mechanisms from scratch, rather than relying solely on purchasing mechanism kits.

This relies heavily on ideas others have shared with us (online or otherwise) and the skill of our students using CAD software to design customized parts to 3D print.

The challenge here is this: the Chromebooks our students have access to are great for most things required in the classroom. Robotics and 3D modeling is another beast.

CAD requires greater processing power. Additionally, we need software that either cannot or will not be installed on our district Chromebooks, such as Fusion 360, REV Robotics software, and the slicing software required to connect to our Afinia 3D printers.

Help us to better access the content we need and give our students the power to guide their robotics learning by providing them dedicated Robotics computers.
