My Students

Last week our students examined batteries, discussed volts & talked about "how batteries work". They have participated in Day of Code for the last two years. Now they want to learn 3-D printing.

Our school serves students ranging from 14-18 and many are learning English as a second language.

Young women can start at our school while they are expecting & continue after their baby is born. Our students are VERY interested in the learning about technology AND jobs in the tech industry.

My Project

Our students are researching 3-D printing applications in health & business. They will apply coding skills to create 3-D items. The first project they will create will be a baby item: tag for diaper bag, jumping frog or other small toy. Each student will present information to the class about the coding, 3-D process, and the results. They will discuss what worked and recommend changes for improving their product.

This week we had a visit from the public library tech mobile.

The librarian shared the public library 3-D printer during the visit. Students excitedly talked about all the applications they wanted to try! Several students asked. "When can we get a 3-D printer to use everyday? Every new technology our young moms learn will help them become better learners, better moms, & eventually better employees.
