Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach a blended class of pre-k students. Half of my students are in the VPK (Voluntary Pre-K) program. The other half are in my special education program. My students love school and learning through play.

Over 95% of our students are from low-income families and the majority of our students walk to school.

Each morning, as I wait for my students to arrive, I get to see all the other students as they enter the building. Many of our students are not dressed appropriately for the colder weather. We have had many days of weather in the 30s-40s with kids in shorts, shivering as they walk past me.

I am requesting warm jackets, hats, and gloves in multiple sizes to hand out to students who don't have jackets. These materials will help keep our kids warm and healthy, ensuring they are at school and ready to learn.
