CNC Learning Using Tormach Machines: Industry Foundations 4.0 Learning

My Students

This donation will help those students who are participating in our new Fab Lab program. The students create engaging, hands-on activities that create a classroom environment that empowers each other to develop in-demand knowledge and skills they need to thrive and prepare for the real-world.

These students work together to solve problems/challenges they will face today and in the future.

They will use the design process to work to design, build, and test solutions related to the problems they are challenged with. The students learn how to solve problems they will face in the future in a team-based learning atmosphere.

My Project

Building Industry 4.0 education through the use of CNC (computer numerical control) machining will engage the students who are always pushing themselves and exploring new challenges in the Fab Lab at FRMS! CNC machining is becoming more prevalent in real-world fabrication and we want the students to learn and become familiar with how they can use them. By purchasing these particular machines we can have our students go through a training program with us to certify each student through NC3 (National Collation of Certification Centers). Students will be able to leave class with a certification that could help them land a job. Our students will utilize their creativity and 21st century thinking skills to work collaboratively to build, program, and use CNC machining to create usable products.

The CNC mill machines will challenge the students, provide hands-on learning, use interactive and inquiry based learning opportunities, and provide them with real-world on-the-job training with milling with real-worlds applications with the 5 C's of 21st century learning.

The Tormach milling machines will allow the students to use their creativity and the engineering design process to create products we will use in school and with products they will be able to take home after completing their certification. We hope students will be inspired to continue this skill in higher education, or in career opportunities.
