CNC Bits for Successful STEM Projects

My Project

We have a new CNC machine as part of our maker space. This machine cuts, shapes, and engraves wood, plastic, and soft metals like aluminum and copper. In order for it to work, it needs various types of bits which are included in this project. This is how students will use these materials - Students will use the engineering process to find a solution to a problem. They will brainstorm ideas and come up with a solution. This solution will be a machine/invention that will solve the problem. This is where the CNC bits are used - they will actually create their solution out of wood, plastic, or metal using the CNC to do the creating. They will have to do it all - come up with the idea, use 3D modeling software to make the solution. After that the CNC makes it, then they test it and if it does not work, they redesign and remanufacture. Each of these bits has a different purpose - they either carve, engrave, cut out, or remove materials.
