This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My goal is to give school-wide access to our own "Inchy Book Vending Machine". Students will be able to earn tokens to use at the book vending machine in which they can choose a book to keep and begin to build up their own personal library.

So many of our students have not been able to build their own personal library and love for reading due to lack of resources, our goal is to help get more books into kids' hands.

Our school's ELL (English Language Learners) Teacher Mrs. C. and I are very passionate about building a love for reading and making an equitable learning environment. We believe that this Book Vending machine will truly bridge the gap between students and help build love and excitement for reading.

Mrs. C. has been toiling away to make this happen. She has even collaborated with another non-profit group called "Save the Children" who would love to help stock our vending machine with books, if we are able to secure funding for the machine. Mrs. C. also had her ELL students write about what kind of difference a book vending machine would make in their lives. Needless to say, this could really impact many students and their families by providing access for those who really need it.
