The biggest challenge is that of geography. Our school is on an island in the middle of the Pacific. To attend any large-scale conferences or meetings, we need to fly to the main city on a different island. To meet with other individuals, even over the Internet, takes extreme planning with time zone changes and sufficient Internet speeds. My students are competent, capable, and extremely willing to work alongside these challenges, but it makes their productivity more difficult.
Students in our community need help to believe that they are as competent and as competitive as their continental counterparts.
Through the support of educational professionals, community involvement, and businesses that understand the struggles of island-based students, glass ceilings can be erased in support of greater global communities of learners.
My students come from a variety of ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. There is a equitable amount of male and female learners in our research programs, and we are working on recruiting more first generation college hopefuls into our programs.
This poster paper and presentation clicker will provide poster printing for our AP Seminar and Research, Science Fair, and Senior Project students who are working on amazing research projects for their junior and senior years of high school.
These students are presenting their novel research at the district, state, and international level.
Poster printing is by far the most expensive part of the presentation process. To be competitive with and feel confident against other students across the world, our students need support in the aesthetic component to complement their amazing work.
In our community, poster printing is typically over $100 for one poster print. We can drastically reduce the cost for our students' presentations by providing these printing services to them.
