Help me give my students phonics tools, magnetic letters, decodable books, a pencil sharpener, nonfiction passages and other things needed for the classroom.
My school is in the state of Utah in a small town called West Jordan. My students are in all grade levels. They have several interests in a variety of areas such as animals, insects, transportation, technology and movies etc. They love hands-on activities, kinesthetic movement, visuals and videos to make their learning more relevant and engaging. All of them have goals and dreams that they aspire to accomplish. They are curious and ask questions. Their curiosity continually pushes me to keep learning and wanting to be the greatest teacher possible. I love my students and want them to become successful citizens that wonder and continue to move our world forward in a positive direction.
My Project
I am an interventionist for my Elementary school. I am pulling students from all grade levels that have been impacted by Covid-19. The materials I will be purchasing will be beneficial in teaching phonetics and meaning based strategies to close the gap on students abilities to read. Many students in all grade levels have really fallen behind with a lack of school and teaching. I want to use the phonetic tools such as Magnetic letters, decodable books, and texts to intervene and help these students learn how to read. I have been taking the LETRS course and have strategically picked out these items to be successful in my teaching.
