This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are such a unique group of tiny people! Most are excited to learn, some are apprehensive, their skills vary greatly, as do the things they love about school. However they all walk in with a smile on their face and I want to do all I can to help them love being at school!

I work at a Title I school in Arizona, where our whole school population receives free breakfast and lunch.

Despite that many of our students experience all sorts of hardships at home, it is wonderful to see that many of them also enjoy being at school.

As a kindergarten teacher it is especially wonderful to see the amount of growth our students make! They come in with base level knowledge, and just flourish throughout the year. My hope is to give them all they can to continue on and become successful adults.

My Project

The six drawer sets will be used directly with the students, one for each table set of kids. Things like their writing journals, handwriting books, basic supplies, math notebooks, and any ongoing activities will be kept in them. As kindergartners we are working on basic organizational skills, so these will really help them to learn about personal organization and how to manage our materials in the correct way.

The children at our school also very much appreciate having things that can be solely theirs, as they do not experience that much at home, so they will be thrilled to each have their own drawer!

We are looking forward to helping our classroom become more organized and functional, as well as the kiddos learning to manage their own space successfully.
