Closet Overhaul: How to Sew, Upcycle, and Fashion Design

My Project

Closet Overhaul focuses on transforming something old into something new. Students will have the opportunity to learn basic and intermediate sewing machine skills to redesign items while redesigning themselves. This unique program is built around entrepreneurship, goal setting, affirmation, coping strategies, anger management, and conflict resolution.

As the program progresses, students will use beginner sewing machines and patterns in order to gain the technical and vocational skills necessary to explore entrepreneurship and strategies to start an eCommerce business.

Students will have an opportunity to design, create and sell handmade and up-cycled products using online platforms such as Amazon, and in-person pop-up shops. I plan to build their capacity for sewing by allowing the students to rent the machines on the weekend, like instruments and other school materials.
